Weaning Well Under Way at Shannon Vale

Weaning of the Dulverton Angus “R” Calves is in full swing at Shannon Vale and you wouldn’t want to know it we have just had the largest fall to date for February 15.5mls. Doubling February’s total to date. Nothing like putting Weaners in the Yards to bring on the Rain, Go Huey.

We are ecstatic with the weaning performance recorded by the “P’s” Weaners.

The Bull calves had an average Live Weight average of 281kg. At 202 days of age for an actual average daily gain of 1.39kg/day. When adjusted to age of dam (2yr. Old first calvers), so we can Ratio the complete herd Bull drop to compare them for potential Sale and use within  herd, they had an Adjusted Daily Gain of 1.63kg/day, note there are 32 bulls in this group.

SIRE Summary Bulls

The Heifer calves have an average Live Weight of 264kg at 201 days of age for an average actual daily gain of 1.30kg./day. When adjusted to age of dam so we can Ratio and so more accurately compare the complete Female drop for selection re future breeding, they had an average adjusted daily gain of 1.49 kg/day.

SIRE Summary Heifers

These Four Sires have done a Stirling Job, no doubt the Females, in this case the Set of “P’s” deserve equal recognition. This Female base has taken us 40 years to develop, Sal and I would like to share with you in the unique Performance of this set of “P’s” heifer progeny by three undoubted Breed up and comers in C. P. Moe M6, GAR Ashland and Dulverton Pins P101.
