2017 Angus Bull Sale – Lot 3 Dulverton Lethal L056
We have always thought a lot of L056, we used him to mop up our 2nd A.I. mob of cows. One of the most pleasing attributes of his work was his attention to the cows, from the day we put him out he didn’t stop surveying his mob, his mobility and agility while serving cows was second to none.
L056 has a unique pedigree, see below for the pictorial of his breeding. Note his sire Dulverton Herbert H008 is by TC Franklin 619 out of a first calf heifer Dulverton Queen F023, F023’s dam was by the great carcase and longevity sire Dulverton Uptake U091. We used H008 as a yearling and then sold him in 2014 to Glen and Loi McKinlay, he topped the sale.
Dulverton Herbert H008 has many positive attributes including his length of body, chest floor width, muscling and mobility. One of the most pleasing points from the fertility perspective is the fact that he was the 8th calf born from a heifer who was the 23rd calf born in her drop. H008 is super easy calving with a birth weight EBV of +2.8
Note: the body length and capacity of Dulverton Queen F023 locomotion is a strong positive as well.
TC Franklin 619 has bred some great cattle none better than the Wattletop G188. H008 is no slouch either. Interestingly Lot 6 , the bull we used over heifers last season is out of a first calf heifer Dulverton Mandy J167 who was by a son of TC Franklin, Dulverton Glory G077.
Dulverton Lisa F203. It’s not often that a potential Sire combines two of the very best cows in the herd so ’close’ in the pedigree. I’ve been so bold as to rate F203 as our best cow. She has length, volume, very sound feet and legs bone content just right, moves so well and the skin and hair ideal.
Dulverton Durabul D059 is the sire of F203, D059 too was used as a yearling then sold to the purchaser of H008, Glen and Loi McKinaly in 2010. D059’s skin, hair and capacity were better even than F203’s his muscling was truly outstanding, note the muscle additive sires in the pedigree of L056—Hyline Right Time 338, Nichols Extra K205 and Design Plus ‘97 both sides.
Its our belief L056 has bull breeding potential, hopefully the pictorial assists support our commitment to him— ‘The cow maketh the herd’.
We have entered L056 in the young Sire Benchmark project.
