Dulverton, Five Star and Agri-Gene would like to welcome to their respective Sire Batteries LANDFALL PACIFIC U 3110.
How It All Came About…
This twenty three (23) month son of Sterling Pacific from one of Landfalls premiere donor cows Landfall Elsa P46 (Ayrvale Bartel E7), was spotted by Ben Hooper Clearview Imaging. Ben was at Roma videoing The Landfall Roma Sale draft about a month ago and forwarded the videos and photos of Landfall Pacific U3110 to Sal and Chaps. The Dulverton principals were impressed with the phenotype of all three flush brothers, which prompted them to inspect the sale draft at Roma in the days leading up to the sale.
The Partnership
John and Selena Sylvester Five Star Angus who have been sharing Stud Sires with Dulverton since the late 1990’s, decided to take a fifty percent share in U3110 after talking with Sal and Chaps during and immediately post their inspection. Chris McAlroy, principal of Agri-Gene, also showed interest in U3110 who he thought was a very marketable son of Sterling Pacific. Chris has sold out of Sterling Pacific and believes a son of the calibre of U3110 is the next best thing to attempting to import more Sterling Pacific semen.
The Bull Landfall Pacific U3110
The striking physical attributes of U3110 are-:
1) His skin and hair.
Note: for a bull born and reared in the Uralla precinct how scant an amount of hair he has on his head, The New England environment will normally promote hair growth, at Dulverton the preference is for less hair and soft pliable skin. U3110 excels re both traits that is the soft, pliable skin and slick hair.
2) His length of body, his shoulder set and neck extension.
3) His movement. He glides over the ground and definitely moves with purpose. The motion is exemplary when his body length is taken into consideration. Note his ideal hock set, (see video).
4) His Muscling to flatter bone content ratio, his adequate fat cover and even fat distribution.
Sixty Five of the bulls in this Landfall sale draft including the three flush brothers of which U3110 was one, were born and reared in the Uralla precinct. The bulls were moved from their pasture rearing system at Uralla onto a maturing forage sorghum crop south of Roma in mid April. During the last three weeks pre sale the Landfall sale draft was “finished” on an adjacent oat crop (same property), with a twenty percent cracked grain eighty percent roughage (silage, forage sorghum hay) supplementary diet available.
5)His faultless Temperament.
Sam Scott of MAA (sale agents) was able to locate and isolate the three flush brothers from amongst the group of fifty six sale bulls out grazing a one hundred acre oat paddock, for us to thoroughly inspect. Sam manoeuvred the three bulls onto a laneway so we could assess their feet U3110’s in particular. We are happy to report his feet are very sound having graded the Fronts 23 and the backs 25. The fact we were able to make this assessment out in a paddock is testament to U3110’s Temperament.
The Pedigree
The Pedigree of U3110 is unique for Dulverton and Five Star. Dulverton hasn’t used Sterling Pacific, Ayrvale Bartel E7 or EF Compliment and Five Star has only sparingly used EF Complement of the trio.
The Combine most definitely respects the contribution these three sires have made in “directing” The Angus Breed forward.
STERLING PACIFIC
The “Topside” of Sterling Pacific’s pedigree exposes many Breed Impact Sires and Cow Families that The Combine has grown up with as the Angus Breed transitioned from The Belt Buckle Era to a much more functional frame pattern particularly with respect achieving market carcass weight, saleable yield and meat eating quality specifications. Today’s task is to ensure these valuable traits aren’t lost and to provide genetic packages that also excel with respect Maternal functionality, including Structural Soundness and Stayability/Longevity within the range of Australian Production systems.
The list of the more prepotent Sires contributing to Sterling Pacific’s appeal would include-:
GDAR 216 Ltd, Tehama Bando, QAS Traveller 23-4, Brost Power Drive, Ankonian Dynamo, Mr. Angus, B/R New Design 036, Ext, 1407, GAR Precision, Sleep Easy. The GDAR Forever Lady Cow Family is worthy of mention.
