for Graziers and Farmers alike. Fortunately for those of us who like to “Play on the Front Foot”, hope reigns eternal and “Every Cloud has a Silver Lining”.

Simple really, this current extended DRY, that has impacted so close to the past one, has forced many Graziers in Northern NSW and Southern Queensland to sell off huge numbers of beef cattle breeding stock. This huge reduction most definitely translates into either no or significantly reduced Breeding Bull requirements.
Shannon Vale, Glen Innes, home of the acclaimed Dulverton Angus Seed stock herd has had to reduce breeding cow numbers, the team has only kept a core number of breeders and has committed to feed them through until the start of October.

Well, even though times are tough opportunities still present themselves. Perhaps one such opportunity will be the availability of
Sale Bulls of well above average quality at below the average prices established post the 2018/19 “Extended Dry”. Quite simply Bull availability/supply will outstrip demand given this monumental Breeding female Sell Off.

Team Dulverton is very keen to assist clients find sires that can help improve their herds genetic potential to fulfil their breeding objectives. Going forward The Team sees a huge potential world wide for beef that will satisfy the middle and upper middle market segment, price competitively. This product is best described as having come from animals with

  • Carcass Weight of 350 to 400kg at a young age, 20 months 
  • Fed in a feedlot for 140/150 days.
  • Enter feedlot at 14/15 months weighing 440kg
  • Produce a carcass Marble Score of 3 and 4 with adequate muscling and optimum fat to promote acceptable Saleable Beef Yields.

Team Dulverton is dedicated to producing Angus Sale Bulls with the genetic potential to go out into the commercial Industry and assist produce animals achieve the above mentioned specifications. The Igenity Beef Profile (IBP) is a great help particularly with achieving the required Marble Scores at that 20 month and younger age.

It is The Teams contention that IBP Marble Scores of 8 and better will improve the average Angus herd’s ability to improve genetic marbling, likewise a Rib Eye Area score of 7 will improve genetic muscling. An IBP Marble score of 7 will maintain genetic marbling, that is, should the prospective bull purchaser believe their herd’s Marbling is achieving the above mentioned specifications then they can select from the Marble Score 7 group and be free to investigate other traits needing genetic improvement. Consider the following catalogue list of the bulls with the above mentioned genetic potential. It’s important not to underestimate the importance of Muscling at acceptable Fatness in achieving adequate Saleable Beef Yields, Yield is important in providing Beef to the consumer Price Competitively.
