Profile Dulverton Rogan Josh R219

Dulverton Rogan Josh R219’s  number one distinguishing feature is his athleticism. The major goal at Dulverton is to encapsulate Constitution, Do-Ability and Getaboutability into a package that also includes superior Genetic Merit for the economically important traits.

  • R219 grades a 7 and so goes a long way toward fulfilling the Structural Soundness component of our goal.
  • There are only two bulls in the draft, both Chiltern Park Moe two year olds who have scored higher for Doability than R219 who was awarded 35.
  • R219 has no superiors for the combined scores of Body Capacity(39) and Body Length(34) which would indicate he has well above average Constitution potential.
  • R219’s feet are very good, Front 23; Back 24, so too the angles of his Hock(26) and Pastern(23), along with shoulder set this suggests ease and freedom of movement.

Genetically R219 ticks most boxes, consider his Igenity Beef Profile Data.

  • We don’t consider R219 to be Heifer Safe, yet we do believe him to be a Calving Ease prospect. R219 scores 5 for Igenity CED and CEM. We did use his half brother D. Nijinsky N040 (heaviest weight gainer of the 2019 draft at 1.19kg/day) over heifers and report no calving issues.

R219 is a definite Genetic All-rounder,

  • R219 rates well above average(Igenity Beef Profile) for:-
Docility, Growth, Tenderness, Marbling, EMA and Carcase Weight
  • R219 rates above average (Igenity Beef Profile) for Fertility
  • R219 isn’t as good as he could be for Milking Ability and RFI. The Angus breed doesn’t score well for RFI in the IGS/Igenity Profiles when compared to the other 7 breeds included in the data base. Breed plan scores him in the Top 15% for NFI-F
  • Stayability-a Trait of absolute importance, R219 scores a 5 for Stayability and while this score is at the bottom of our requirement(5-8), it is above average for the Angus analysed in the IGS/Igenity database.

The Dam of R219, Dulverton Ticket H021

Elite sires are produced from the better performing cows, better performed cows must have proven themselves by exhibiting the ability to Stand The Test of Time.

H021 has produced and reared eight progeny, she is still active in the herd. H021’s two best retained females are M085 and Q117, her best son undoubtedly Nijinsky N040, sold in the 2019 Sale to Ian & Marg Bailey “Greylands” Singleton thanks to manager Steve Wilkinson. N040 was used as a yearling in the stud over maiden heifers, to prove his versatility he did present in our 2019 Sale as the heaviest bull recording a daily gain of 1.19kg/day. N040 had no issues with his calving ease all born alive, no assists.

H021 traces back to the Annies, she is by T.C.Franklin a better than average sire particularly of females, he did produce Wattletop G88. Franklin also produced D. Annie G037, the dam of D. New Approach N208 represented in this Sale by 15 two year olds and a yearling.

H021’s dam was by Hyline Right Time 338, a bull we thought a great deal of, H021’s maternal grand dam was D. Ticket T078 who successfully produced and reared twelve (12) progeny. T078 was by D. Re-Build R112 whose 25 steer progeny won the inaugural ALFA sponsored Feedlot Performance/Eating Quality competition. R112 worked naturally as a twelve year old, he was truly athletic, very sound and a Longevity promoter

Elite Sire prospects such as Dulverton Rogan Josh R219 not only must “Look the Part” themselves, they must carry better than average sets of genes for the economically important traits and have a superior maternal pedigree to back them up. R219 fulfils the necessary criteria.
