Progeny of Dulverton Bulls Excel at QLD Weaner Sales

Congratulations Glen and Loi McKinlay for yarding the highest priced pen of weaners at the recent annual Rollston Store and Weaner Sale. The weaners were purchased by the Muller family of Rollston. The Mullers were represented at the sale by Cliff and Iris plus son Lance. The Mullers are repeat buyers of the McKinlays weaners, they say the cattle grow-out well, finish quickly and are very quiet.

Glen and Loi made their first purchase of a Dulverton bull six years ago. They bought Dulverton Zing Z135 a Dulverton Uptake U91 son for $20,000 to be used over a set of Santa Gertrudis and Angus cross cows Glen had acquired from his older brother Rob. Zing Z135 has bred extremely well for Glen, he single sire mates him and keeps twenty five of his male progeny as bulls and has been able to sell about 15 of his male progeny as yearling bulls.

Dulverton Zing Z135 is a typical Dulverton Uptake U91 son he is a ‘survivor’ in the northern environments thanks to his slick hair, soft pliable skin, mid maturity pattern and structural soundness. Zing has also inherited Uptake U91’s longevity trait, he will be 8 this spring and U91 will be 13. We used U91 by natural service last spring over 20 cows.

While we don’t have any Dulverton Uptake U91 sons in this years sale, he is represented with 11 maternal grandsons. That is, there are 11 sons in the sale out of U91 daughters and 3 out of U91 maternal grand daughters.
